Everything you promised me, oh woo oh oh, but the moment that I dreamed
I found some better company, but deep inside my heart I know
I know that you made me a promise
Jesus your the way and the promise, miracles are raining down on us
The promise, the promise
Now I'm steppin' into my purpose, see everything else is worth this
The promise, the promise
The promise of yes we can, the change of life more than a man
See the power of a dream that changes things yeah
The promise nailed up on the cross, a promise that will save us all
The price he paid was everything, guaranteed me, the promise
Jesus show the way, the promise, miracles are raining down on us
The promise, the promise
Now I'm steppin' into my purpose, see everything else is worth this
Now that I'm living the promise
The promises, the promise
Now I know your not a man, that you should lie
I trust and believe, and I'll tell you why
Never broke a promise, never crushed my fragile dreams, oh woo
So I'm standin' right here, standin' my ground
Thanking you Lord, for the purpose I found
I promise together, forever
I believe, I believe yeah
I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe oh woo hoo
Jesus your the way and the promise, miracles are raining down on us
The promise, the promise
Now I'm steppin' into my purpose, see everything else is worth this
Now that I'm living the promise
The promise
Jesus your the way and the promise, miracles are raining down on us
The promise, the promise
Now I'm steppin' into my purpose, see everything else is worth this
Now that I'm living the promise
The promise
All the promise, Jesus your the way and the promise, miracles are raining down on us
The promise, the promise
Now I'm steppin' into my purpose, see everything else is worth this
Now that I'm living the promise
The promise, the promise
The lyrics of Y'Anna Crawley's song "The Promise" illustrate a journey of faith with a fervent belief in the promised blessings of God. The song starts with the singer expressing her understanding of the doubts others had about her abilities and how everything promised to her was deemed improbable. However, as she has faith, she knows that the promise made to her will eventually come true. She says that even though others may have tried to dissuade her, she has found better company, in her own mind, because she knows what was promised to her. This could represent the idea that even when others do not believe in us, we need to have belief in ourselves and what we can achieve.
The chorus speaks of Jesus as the way and promise, and miracles raining down on us. The phrase "stepping into my purpose" indicates a sense of fulfillment derived from discovering and embracing one's calling. It signifies that the Singer has found what she was meant to do and believes that everything else in life is worth it for that purpose. The phrase "the promise of yes, we can" might also be seen as a reference to President Barack Obama's 2008 campaign slogan, which was intended to rally people behind their shared power to achieve their dreams.
Overall, "The Promise" is a song about hope in the face of doubt, and unwavering belief in God's promises, and the assurance that the way ahead is clear through Jesus Christ.
