In September 2021, Young K debuted as a solo artist with the release of his first mini-album, Eternal. This served as his send-off release before entering the Korean Augmentation Troops to the United States Army (KATUSA) in October 2021, making history by being the first K-pop idol to serve in this particular military branch.
