I have the 0211XCOR2 set, they feel really good comparable to my Ben Hogan Apex Edge forged! I love the looks of PXG irons and the modular assembly! How much better can the tech get! We all want looks, feel, forgiveness, flight, distance and cost! Who is doing it best?Thanks guys

Did a fitting with pxg few years ago but didn’t do enough to take the p790 out of my bag. Just did a fitting and purchased the 0311 p gen 6 on the spot. Fitting was great. Thought I would be fit in a 115-120 gram stiff shaft standard length. Ended up w 110 gram xstiff half inch longer w heavier weight in head. Go get fit ! Mizuno jpx 923 forged and p770 were my second choices. And cant believe they were softer than mizuno

I switched from the gen 3p to the gen 5 p a year and a half ago but since- before these were out and have not tested- switched to the new p770s which have given me even more precision and accuracy than the gen5p. While have both sets tend to now use the p770s. Maybe in a couple of years will see how the gen 8s compare at that time with others that might be competitors. I have to add that the shaft choice is also an important element. In the gen 5 I had the project x cypher and in the p770 the ust helium nanocore - and perhaps that made the slight difference. Also to add that while the lofts are much weaker in the p770s to the gen 5 p iron for iron the p770s give me the same carry distances if not even slightly more (5 yards or so)- again perhaps a factor of three things - loft is your friend; shaft difference; and shortened the p770’s by half an inch so am getting a more accurate strike.

I just tried the Pxg 0317 CB yesterday amazing consistency and I could almost shape on demand dispersion was 3-4 yards either way on good and mishits I am extremely biased to Srixon ZX-7 but coming from Ping i525 I think I’m going with the PXG I only been playing since last May 😂

I got fitted for pxg in Orlando, in January. I didn't know gen-6 was coming out, kind of wish they have told me but I am not dissatisfied and my gen-5 at all. Ended up with four hours to get which and full set of being forged wedges, are excellent. My iron set is 4-7 XP and 8-G P

Really informative review...thank you. Just out of curiosity, how do the PXG 0311 Gen 6 XPs compare w/ the PXG 0211 XCOR2 irons? Are they both in the Game Improvement category...or are the XPs considered a Players Distance/GI mix? I don't think the 0211s are forged. 27-degree lofts...yikes 🙂

Thanks Brian, really appreciate your feedback. The XP's and 0211 are pretty much in the same game improver/mid-handicap category.

The 0211 are 28deg in the 7-iron, so there's not too much between them and the XP's.

You're right the 0211's are cast and they don't have any of the tungsten weight tech for forgiveness, or to allow you to go longer, shorter, heavier or lighter without shifting the CG.

im getting more annoyed every year with the lofts of irons... its insane to call it a 7iron with 28degrees. thats a 5 iron... but great video, keep up the great work

Thanks for the feedback, understand where you're going with this.

Our stance is that we don't get to decide what loft a 7-iron has. We just test what manufacturers decide is correct for each irons target player, then show the differences to whoever has an interest in a comparison.

What matters is delivered loft. Better players typically deliver less loft compared to higher handicap players. The stronger lofts are there to help players who deliver less dynamic loft (shaft lean at impact) replicate results closer to those of better players.

The number on the bottom of a club is meaningless across sets. It’s simply a way for someone to easily distinguish one club within that set from another within that same set.

@Rob S but we don't compare just clubs within that set. People compare clubs between every set. People will always compare a 7iron from say ping, to the 7 iron from Callaway. Keeping static lofts throughout all sets will help realize where people are in the capabilities.

They increased my loft by 2 degrees and I gain about 10 yards on my 7. Ended up doing the same with my driver (callaway). I hit it well and didn’t see any improvement with the Pxg driver so no need to change it. We just adjusted mine. Felt like the fitting was legit and didn’t feel like I was being sold stuff that didn’t benefit my game.

Why do they state launch angle at 18.8 yet the graph shows over 19 degrees. This is very misleading. Should do better PXG.

It's because the data given by PXG is created on a robot, with a typical delivery etc. The test numbers we then show are using a real golfer, who like every golfer, creates their own unique delivery, so the data will always differ.
