Funeral
ZAHARA Lyrics

Funeral . funeral . funeral
The song Funeral by ZAHARA speaks about a feeling of regret and sorrow over missed opportunities and failed attempts to communicate with a loved one. The lyrics portray the singer as someone who is trying to reach out to this person but finds that they are always one step ahead, running away faster than they can catch up. The singer feels like they have done everything they could but it was all in vain as their efforts have gone unrecognized. The imagery used in the lyrics, such as "trembling foundation after an earthquake" and "everything in ruins," conveys a sense of despair and hopelessness.
The central theme of the song is expressed in the lines "Me pilló de imprevisto no supe decir lo que quería hablar. Ahora que sé como hacerlo tú no quieres escuchar" which translates to "It caught me off guard, I didn't know what to say. Now that I know how to say it, you don't want to listen." The song suggests that the singer regrets not being able to express their feelings earlier, which may have changed the outcome of the situation. The repeated chorus, "Ha empezado el funeral" (The funeral has begun), further underlines the sense of loss and finality that the singer feels.
