Yeah, but how many cameras were on the subject? Normally a security system will have between two and three cameras covering every 'activity' area from different angles.
News and u-tube usually only use the best of the set, thus 'well positioned camera'.
Cops get to look at a bunch of blurry, out of focus and long distance poorly angled video but that ain't going on the news.

TBH I don't even think that was a miss because I've seen several shootings and pretty much there never was a point where the bullet just stayed in the body unless it was an oblique shot. It sailed right through and impacted behind the guy. Another reason why being aware of the background is important.

It's stunning how fast the first bad guy goes from the attacker, to, just a few seconds later deeply regretting it all. That's an amazingly fast learning lesson that, no doubt, he took with him to the grave. I would imagine his last few seconds were taken up with wanting to turn back time.

The main problem I can think of is that many people get to comfortable in their routines especially when at home or closer to home. It is not paranoia to take a good perimeter check as you go along your life to be aware of who and what is around your immediate areas. I see everyone as a potential threat until shown otherwise and this includes kids playing in the area as well. I add kids in the area because you never know when one might dart out into the road in front of you and you end up hitting them or a ball or other object being tossed around might get out of their control and head your way.

I would rather take a few precautions vs none at all and end up being either a victim of a crime or someone that injures a child because I didn't see them. ON that note keep in mind just about anything can be used as a weapon in your defense so do not hesitate to grab whatever you can and start using it. Not everyone has a gun to use for defense but something is better than nothing. I watched one old dude start throwing cans of soup at someone with a gun pointed at him and he was dead accurate with his throws. The dude with the gun ran off and I continued my approach to see if the old dude was alright and not needing medical help. The police were called and the dude with the gun was caught later at the hospital with a broken wrist that had marks that looked like a soup can hit it.

I would rather go down fighting than sitting there cowering in hopes that someone else shows up that may help.

There is risk in the north of Brazil where I would say its pretty much a warzone the south of Brazil is very relaxed I have never had a problem 4 years of being here. The people/food culture and price of living, I have never lived better anyware else. Dont let bad videos put you off seeing the south at least.

I love how he explains tactics and techniques and tries to relate it to an incident from a foreign country (probably South America). This is a regular occurrence there and there is no formal training or rules on both sides. The attackers are most likely street riff raff in flip flops. They are like wild dogs who live on the street. The one shot most likely bled out in the street and died. They don't worry about forensics or laws there. It's killed or be killed.

I see a number of comments where people seem to think Mr. Correia is expecting absolute perfection from the person being targeted. I believe the idea is to learn & remember from these videos, train, & be as prepared as possible. When most people are in these situations, they go into an "auto-mode" where you would want as much of your training & awareness to be present. It won't likely be 100%, but you want to be as close as you can to 100% to better your chances of surviving & making good decisions. Remember too that the battle doesn't just end at the shoot.

Watching these videos has taught me that the gun truly is the great equaliser. The amount of times I've seen a single defender successfully repel a gang of bad guys is insane.

@Ayo Xo It is possible to own a gun in the UK but there are heavy restrictions on what types of weapons you can own and for what purpose. Even if you have a firearms licence, you can't just carry around a handgun for protection. You will only be allowed to shoot wildlife or use a range and guns must be transported very safely and securely so they are no easily accessible.

We are also very limited in other methods of defence. We cannot legally carry pepper spray, tazers or knives over a particular size. Things like baseball bats and golf clubs are only allowed to be carried with good reason. Some people will put a golf club in their car boot(trunk) for protection and just tell the police they're on the way to play golf if they're ever pulled over

My wife took a concealed carry class and the instructor that taught them that if a bad guy ever break into your property, do not try to use deadly force as a self defense. Because they are only trying to steal property and other values and nothing else. But I told her no matter what they do, they will always to harm you or even threaten your life. So i say you can use deadly force.

Actually, I don't think the defender hits the attacker until the fourth round, where he probably hit him in the hip or leg. You're absolutely right about the fact that every shot missed increases the opportunity of an attack from a secondary threat.

I think it's important to point out that his buddy from the other car ducked under the defender's gun when passing in front of him. He knew the defender had to keep his gun pointed at the downed mugger, and he also knew enough not to walk in front of a loaded gun.

I think this is the first time a video like this has gotten it right. This isn't a bad gun owner shooting an innocent man, this is a law abiding gun owner putting down a bad man with a gun. @Mr.President sir What I said is not about him getting what he deserved in that moment, it's the wider effect of his departure. The majority of people who partake in horrific violence such as these guys did have serious, long criminal histories usually with a lot of prior convictions for violent crime, typically increasing in severity of violence. Of course whether that applies to the decedent is speculation on my part.

I consider causing the intentional death of another human being is an act that is at all times unnatural and unwholesome in substance, though not always unjustified or Immoral in practice.The circumstances which create justified homicide derive from a very narrow set of conditions and what happened here certainly fell into those conditions. My line of thought with regard to it is that the family of either one are going to be damaged and experience life-altering grief, but the grief inflicted to loved ones of a person who was not actively committing a crime and was randomly stolen from them forever for no reason will be in a completely different league. There's no comparison at all. Therefore, for not allowing yourself to be murdered the moral basis is that more harm is inflicted to one family than the other. I direct you to the murders of Chris Newsom and Channon Gail Christian. God rest their souls.

This is mid to late 2021, and my neighborhood is changing fast. There have recently been multiple loud shootings in my neighborhood and the neighboring community just outside my neighborhood. Great lesson. I think his marksmanship is better than your assessment. In slo-mo, the attacker is seen to cringe after most of the defender's shots. Fear & adrenalin are keeping the attacker moving. There is another point to make about the stopping power of the defender's handgun. It took too many hits to put the attacker down. If I was this defender I would be looking for a more powerful handgun.

Even with the 2 misses, the actions of this driver and his friends were great, he got out of the car and kept his gun trained on the other two while watching the guy he downed.....I agree it was good to secure the other gun, but I'd have kicked it slightly out of the way and not touched it.....but his friend ran by to move his car and ducked under the barrel, while the defender slightly raised his barrel to keep his friend out of the LOS......loved it

2/4 hits in a SHTF moment is actually very good combat shooting. As a firearms instructor & former USMC infantryman, the defender did very well in this situation. Room for improvement? Absolutely. But given real world, adrenaline, fear for your life, etc... he did a great job. Most importantly, his situational awareness allowed him to recognize threatening behavior before the attackers were able to draw and have his gun at the low-ready position. That alone is the primary reason that he is alive. Bad guys are drawing guns, bullets start flying, incoming fire is happening, and the defender gets 2/4 hits, and controls the dropped weapon. The defender has my vote of confidence.

This guy did pretty good. It's fortunate for him that Bad Guy #2 didn't just start firing through that back window, though. This does demonstrate just how cowardly a lot of criminals are. So many of them only want to fight when they believe they're the only ones with any power. The three criminals in this should have been able to take on this one man, even with his awareness of their approach. I'm glad it didn't go that way, of course! The point I'm making is actually that people have to be willing to stand up and protect themselves. These thugs, all over the world, are selfish people. You can also secure a firearm by sliding it with your foot or kicking it out of the way while your hands on your firearm. Just be careful when applying this technic as the weapon most likely is chambered and can discharge unless it's a revolver or a bolt action.

Also, noticed the defender handled the second firearm in a safe manner by pointing the firearm away from himself and the asphalt/other people.

EDIT: I've never had to use a firearm, other than a deterrent, on a US citizen. I truly hope that I never have to actually pull the trigger to take a life for any reason.

Brian Pitpurka flip flops are very common here since it's a very hot place, people use it on a daily bases. Both options are pretty possible, but I think the second one is right.

Notice that just before the defensive shooter is firing that last round, the perp is attempting to turn as he is fleeing and fire back. Answers that question of “why did you shoot him in the back as he was running away injured”. He was no longer a threat, ONLY when he hit the ground, stopped moving and had his weapon removed from his immediate vicinity. Great example of defensive use of a firearm. Nice vid! Keep them coming.

It's a matter of life and death, when you are dealing with multiple attackers, you have to eliminate them one by one ASAP, so you can't just shoot one in hope that he's injured enough to not shoot back and eal with others. You have to make sure that the first one you got is good to be left behind your back, that he won't be able to hurt you when you dealing with others, so your first shot has to be as lethal as possible. But later when you are dealing with the last one you can have a little mercy, cause you know there's no one else who's gonna hot when you're not paying attention, all you have to do is keep and an eye on the last one.

This clip reminded me of a dream I had and where I was being boxed in by a motorcycle and another car at night on a deserted road. The bike slowed and the car speeding in the other lane and I stopped and the bike stopped way in front. I knew they were after me and formed a plan and of course I woke up.

The best thing for the unarmed woman is to beat feet out of the area.
Staying with the car and likely screaming her head off just complicates the defenders job.
I’ve told my family if we are ever in a self-defense situation to run to cover and start calling the police and filming the situation.

Except statistics tell the opposite. In some cases, like this one, it works. The us are the 17 nation in the world for homicides perpetrated by guns for 100000 population. The absolute first for gun suicides. I don't wanna even talk about school shootings because from the outside it seems unreal the situation. I see how not having a weapon could be viewed as less security, but if you feel like you need one, maybe living in the us (or in your neighborood) could not be the best choice long term

@JCDawg83 not always easy. Brazil has a lot of structural inequality, impossible to get ahead if you are born in a favela. Not that I am excusing this guy, not at all, but just it is not as easy as saying he made bad life choices or his parents didn't parent. The guy was probably born with nothing, and now that's all he's got.

Training is important. With that said, I know of very few people who train for the adrenaline rush that happens when you are in a scenario like this. It is almost impossible to train for. I would suggest sprinting a mile or giving yourself an adrenaline shot and immediately shooting your firearm after if you want to see how hard it can be to be deadly accurate from your vehicle. Mind you, the driver was probably fully aware that he had a guy ready to shoot him from right behind the vehicle so he was more than likely shooting while also trying to avoid shots from behind.

Just subscribed, need to learn more of this type of info. Thinkin about buying my mom and I a couple home protection handguns, just in case. But told her we actually have to go to the gun range and PRACTICE and not just keep em in the drawer. It's a thing of "Would rather have em and not need em, than to need em and not have em." Regarding picking up the robber's gun: Earlier this year in the US, an active shooter killed a cop. A civilian shot and killed the perp and took the perp's rifle. Responding officers then shot and killed the civilian because he's the one holding the guns. Very unfortunate situation, but also demonstrates that tactically-correct actions aren't necessarily the best thing to do as a civilian. It has made me start to mentally rehearse how I might avoid presenting myself as a threat should I ever be in a similar situation, and it includes kicking the perp's gun away then quickly lowering my own.

The thing about this is it happened at the intended victims home. (if in fact the girl ran into her house). The gang, or other perps, are likely to retaliate. Though in this case, the identity of the guy that got shot is likely to lead to the capture of his accomplices. She was lucky the backwards shots missed her, but now i wonder where those bullets hit.
