She's Gone
black sabath Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I didn't want to see you go, oh, no, no
And now it's hurting so much, what can I do?
I wanted you to be my wife
The days are passing slowly since you've gone
Your memories are all I have, yes I have
I sit here waiting but you'll never show
You said you'd always love me, all of my life
And then you said your last goodbye, yeah, goodbye
Why the sudden changes, why all the lies?
I should have seen it in your eyes
The endless hours of heartache waiting for you
My summer love has turned to rain, oh the pain
The silent emptiness of one-sided love
My life means nothing now you're gone, ooh my baby
In "She's Gone" by Black Sabbath, the singer expresses the pain and heartache they've been suffering since their lover has gone away. The opening lines, "I've been gone a long, long time, waiting for you / I didn't want to see you go, oh, no, no" suggests that the singer may have been away for a period of time and was eagerly awaiting the return of their loved one. However, their partner has left them and it is now causing the singer a lot of emotional turmoil. The lyrics, "And now it's hurting so much, what can I do? / I wanted you to be my wife" show that the singer had serious intentions with this person and may have had future plans with them, such as marriage.
The chorus of the song, "The days are passing slowly since you've gone / Your memories are all I have, yes I have / I sit here waiting but you'll never show / Without you I can't carry on, ooh my baby" illustrates the emptiness the singer feels since their lover has left. They express that time seems to be moving slowly and all they have left of their relationship is memories. The lyrics, "I sit here waiting but you'll never show" shows that the singer may still be holding onto hope that their lover will come back, even though it is unlikely. The song continues to express the heartache and pain of a lost love and the emptiness someone feels without their presence.
Overall, "She's Gone" is a dark and emotional ballad about the loss of a love that meant a lot to the singer. The lyrics express heartache, pain, and loss but also show the vulnerability and desperation of someone who has lost their soulmate.

What a masterpiece by Black Sabbath, sounds ethereal! This showcases their great musicianship and why they're a truly great band.

I first heard about Black Sabbath in 1980. (Yes I was late to the party). I was 15 at the time. After buying a few of their albums shortly afterwards, I thought "Man this is the best Metal band in the world". Now, 37 years and thousands of Metal bands later, Black Sabbath is the best Metal band in the world.

@Proximity Symbol but you got to get into them at a perfect time. 83 here at 13 years old and was listening to Ozzy before them. Then I heard Iron Man and was like wow.
