Kate is half Taiwanese and half Japanese, with roots in Europe, as well.
Her childhood was spent between the UK and Japan, and she lived in San Fransisco during university. She is trilingual in Japanese, English, and Chinese.
In 2011, Kate made her major label debut as the vocalist for DadaD.
She is the mastermind behind their distinctive pop style, directing the art, design, and styling for the duo. Her global vision and creative sense of style have gained her fans in the fields of fashion, art, and culture.
Her vocals have also been featured in the commercials of such clients as Coca Cola, Risona Bank, and Nippon Ham.

Shige has been born in Tokyo. While in high school, he formed a 3‐pieced band, Kobose, acting as its bassist, vocalist, and songwriter. After graduation, he traveled around the US and Europe with his bass, and released 4 original albums after his return. His unique bass style garnered him much attention in the music world, and eventually landed him on the cover of Bass Magazine. A naturally multi-talented musician, he plays the guitar, bass, piano, and percussion for DadaD, and handles the recording and mixing for the duo. He formed DaDaD in 2011 with Kate and also produces music for TV commercials, and works with various other artists as a bassist, songwriter, arranger, and producer, participating in their recordings and shows.

Their music reflects a world view of poetry in which Japanese and English lyrics are mixed. The roots of their music comes from various countries and has a strange groove feeling produced by Shige's music. It exceeds the genre of Japanese music and western music, there is only one kind of music.

Their borderless sound was noticed at the nationwide FM station and they got flooded with requests!
Heavy rotated at radio stations nationwide, attracting attention from industry stakeholders. J-WAVE TOKIO HOT 100 earned 5th place in the chart yearly.
"Sing with me" was selected as a UNIQLO TV commercial song for UNIQLO TV commercial songs, and even afterwards, they provided songs to numerous television commercials such as Nissan Motor, Chichu lotion and "LAWSON MACHI café", Musé Platinum etc.

The name DadaD is inspired by Dadaism, an art movement of the European avant-garde in the early 20th century. DadaD (pronounced "Da-Da-Da") is also a universal sound that can be pronounced across countries, cultures, and generations.

I'm a girl, I never needed this particular skill, however, I trained myself how to tie a tie last year because I wanted to know for future reference. I also have a younger cousin who's dad hasn't taken the initiative to tech him stuff like this, so I taught my younger cousin (not yet a teen) how to tie a tie. My dad died when I turned 7 of lung cancer from smoking, he just wouldn’t quit never had the chance to meet him growing up, he was still in Saigon, Vietnam while my family & I were already in the U.S brought here by my uncle. I wonder all the time what it must be like to have a dad, father figure role in your life, I was raised by my mom. My only wish is one day to have a happy family, wife & kids of my own one day before I’m 30 when I’m settled in my career to give them all the love I wish I had & wanted to know what it must’ve felt like. Hi dad! I saw your video a long time ago and you taught me how to wear a tie! I'm a girl and just loved the look back then 🙂. I don't wear them anymore, but last week, while suit shopping with my dad for his second marriage, I discovered he doesn't know how to wear one!

Cherish your dad even when he says mean stuff to you and calls you all those names. My dad once said to my older brother (back when he was little) *I hate you*, yes my dad said that to my brother. My brother showed nothing but love to my dad and unfortunately my brother passed last year, My dad was recently diagnosed with clinical severe depression And I know it's all because of my brother. He regrets whatever he did/said to him back then, all because he couldn't express his feelings to his son. The day of my brothers funeral my dad wrote him a note which said "you always said please and thank you, you were so kind, and the last time I saw you, you shook my hand and said ''dad, i love you'' I said to you ''Why? I haven't done anything for you to say that'' and you just said ''it doesn't matter, I love you."... I think my dad replays those words over and over again. Just show your dad and tell him you love him, he probably needs to hear it. Some fathers never know how to love their sons because their dads never showed them love. ❤

I'm 15....just found out about him and honestly I feel so emotional. I lost my dad at the age of 11 months. I don't have any memory, but I had my grandpa , he did everything a dad would do. Last year i lost him too. Ever since I feel this huge void. Offline school started recently and i didn't know how to tie my tie. I'm so happy this channel exists. Thank you so much for everything.

My dad left when found out my mom was pregnant, she had to raise me on her own. I had multiple men as father figures: my grandpa who taught me how to handle repairs and maintain household, my karate trainer who taught me discipline, respect and willpower, my russian teacher who taught me how to express myself and listen to others, but some things can only be taught by real fathers.
Small, yet important in their own way. Thank you for it.

Oh my god, I absolutely needed this! My college uniform requires us to wear a necktie so I tried learning from YouTube tutorials but the results kept looking weird and no matter how many times I rewatched the same or other videos it still looked off, it just kept tilting towards its side for some reason and I had no idea how to fix it. I’ve been going to school with a necktie that’s always askew. But this video just showed me the step I’ve been missing!

Stumbled across this due to another Youtube video. Lost my dad 2 years ago due to MS (I'm 55 yesterday). Last week as I was tying my tie, I thought back to when I tried over and over to learn to tie my tie, and my dad would stand behind me, and patiently teach me to tie my tie. Now its old hat, but every day I tie my tie, I feel my dad's hands guiding me. Working on the car, building the shed, painting, electrical, plumbing, even how to mow, (or even in washing the car and he'd say "son, don't look a the whole car, wash the fender, rinse, wash the door, rinse, wash the hood, rinse, and before you know it, the whole car will be done). Everything I do today, I feel my dad's presence in his teaching and example. I had to fight to hold back the emotions as I watched your videos. My dad fought for more than 10 years, having to be in a wheelchair, then bed. I miss him terribly and even though I'm grateful for all he taught me in work, I'd give anything to have him back and be able to work together again.
