From an early age Roel kept himself busy with finding new sounds and creating music. As GOSTO he and his live band melt the worlds of acoustic and electronic music together into one dubby trip-hop sound; raw, dark but still colourful.
Inspired by traveling, chaos and love as well as artists such as Flying Lotus, James Blake, Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley, GOSTO balances between fragile melodies and electronic extravaganza. In his song writing, he thrives to let you experience the thin line between simplicity and complexity. GOSTO takes you to places that you seem to recognize, but not yet have been before.
Roel’s band exists out of musicians how create a tight sound, despite of their totally different background. These four virtuosos have the ability play a ground shaking energetic but still very controlled live-show. Expect thrilling melodies, catchy vocals and deep, deep synths.
In June 2014, GOSTO released his debut EP (premiered on Noisey) and was amongst others support act for How to Dress Well.
GOSTO can be seen at several festivals and at different clubs.
GOSTO band:
Roel Vermeer: Vocals, synths & samples

I Don't Mind
gosto Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Not the same point of view
Do you even care
You don't really care
I don't mind
If you let me go
But let me know
Turn into Déjà vu
I don't mind
If you let me go
But let me know
Say Hello to the world
From the hills that we build
I see you over there
But are you really there
In the first verse, the singer is addressing someone who they are no longer the same person to. They imply that they have changed and evolved into someone different, with a different perspective and outlook on life. Despite this transformation, they question whether the person they're addressing even cares about this change or if they are indifferent towards it. The repetition of "you don't really care" adds emphasis to the singer's feelings of neglect or disregard.
The chorus expresses the singer's acceptance of the possibility of being let go. They state that they don't mind if the person decides to end their relationship or connection. However, they request clarity and honesty in the process. The line "But let me know" reflects their desire for open communication and an understanding of where they stand.
The second verse begins with the phrase "Turn into Déjà vu," which can be interpreted as a metaphor for a recurring pattern or feeling. The singer is expressing that they don't mind if the situation they are in becomes reminiscent of something familiar, even if it may have negative connotations or echoes of past experiences. This suggests a willingness to confront challenges and face potential similarities to past disappointments or heartaches.
The final lines of the song are directed towards someone who the singer acknowledges and sees in their surroundings. They describe this person as being physically present but question if they are truly mentally and emotionally present. The singer is questioning the authenticity of the connection, implying that the person may be distant or disengaged in their relationship or interactions.
Overall, "I Don't Mind" explores themes of change, acceptance, and emotional detachment. The singer acknowledges their own growth and transformation while questioning the level of care and involvement from the person they are addressing. They express a willingness to let go, yet emphasize the importance of honest communication and an authentic emotional connection.
