@Nostredamus Amazing comment from your part, too. I'm so disillusioned with "epicness" in all of our media, whether it's music, video games, movies, paintings... It's either Tolkien-like, Marvel-like, or anime-like. I crave more for the magical feeling conveyed by an old tale, discrete and subtle, rather than flashy characters and epic battles that don't appeal to the imagination.

Wow, such an amazing comment. I grew up on homm games and video games of the sort, it's somewhat of a vague feeling you simply cant put into words. Tolkien-like fantasy deals too much with "epicness" and leaves no room for soul.

The sad part is Tolkien's universe was designed as a fairy tale structure based of North European and British Isles folklore and culture, all to tell children at bedtime.... little did he know it would go on to inspire every and their mother to try and rip the themes without ANY of that backbone, soul, or talent.

Bringing a little tear to my eyes every time I'm listening to this theme... This tune probably will be at my funeral. When my time will come, I'd like to be buried at dale or at glade, not at the cemetery, turning slowly into the green grass swaying by winds.

Dude - when I heard the Grass theme in Heroes VI I lost it. I was wondering if I was hearing things, if my mind was trying to tell me to play Heroes II. But no, Paul Anthony Romero - the god who brought us the amazing music of the ENTIRE Heroes franchise - saw fit to repurpose it for VI and bring back memories that only his talented work could invoke. Paul Anthony Romero, quite possibly my favorite musician of all time thanks to these games.

I broke down and cried when I got Heroes of Might and Magic VI and heard this song on the very first map I played. Goddamnit.....it's been nearly a decade since I last played Heroes 2, but at the same time, it feels like only yesterday that I last played it. So many memories....could hum all the music from this game as a kid to this very day......I get sentimental just thinking about...

This is classic, really touching and have lots of art emotions in this game. This game just never dies. I just can hear the "Zing!" collecting a resources..with Sawmill's sawblade sounds nearby.

Having listened to a playlist consisting of all musical themes of all towns in all heroes, landing back into this for some reason, I can say:
the production value, and the genuine score-writing ability shows. The changing of times and the mentalities, it shows. This is no nostalgia. This is just plain better.

Yes! I play a lot homm 3 enjoying with hd mod, the creatures, artifacts etc is just better than 2...but in terms of music and art style for me homm 2 is the best, period.

The perfect homm game would be the one that can mix the gameplay, number of factions, artifacts, etc of 3 with the pixel artstyle, music, and sound from 2.

Oh my god.... When I die my last breath will be "Heroes of Might and Magic 2 soundtrack" (like rosebud...) this game, this music, those memories are easily some of my favorite. Sandro rules!!

It's a good game and quite frankly, Homm5/6 tried. They really did, but the spirit of Homm was not there. Maybe 3D broke the franchise irreparably.

I'm debating starting a petition to see if Ubisoft will make a sort of.. HD-Remix of Heroes II. Y'know, without fiddling with the core game and leaving the music mostly untouched - save for the good ol' Paul Romero polish. Not that this song needs polishing, but mostly because the newer gamers will be confused if they hear older sounding music.
