You can buy me all these things,...
Like I'm some gold digger b
Like I don't support myself
My favorite color green, aha!
Even if I was broke, boy you couldn't get close to me!
The way you try to buy my time it's annoying me
You better find another way approaching me,
Chorus:
Mr. Hollywood, Mr. Hollywood
You'll never buy my love,
Cause you never have enough, no!
Mr. Hollywood, Mr. Hollywood
You'll never buy my love,
Cause you never have enough, no!
He doesn't get it, no!
The type of girl I am!
No, he's not used to get it
Boy, you're way out of your league!

So forget about it and try on another girl!
Cause I'll never be into guys like you, no!
Even if I was broke, boy you couldn't get close to me!
The way you try to buy my time it's annoying me
You better find another way approaching me,
Cause you're wrapped up, superficial, that don't work with me!
Chorus: (x2)
Mr. Hollywood, Mr. Hollywood
You'll never buy my love,
Cause you never have enough, no!
Mr. Hollywood, Mr. Hollywood
You'll never buy my love,
Cause you never have enough, no!
In Kat DeLuna's song "Mr. Hollywood," the artist makes a powerful statement against superficiality and gold digging. The lyrics speak to the idea that just because someone has money and material possessions does not mean that they are entitled to love or attention from others. DeLuna describes how the persona being addressed in the song is trying to buy her affections and time, but ultimately fails to do so because of his superficial and shallow nature. Despite his attempts to impress and woo her with material possessions, the persona cannot satisfy the deeper emotional needs that DeLuna seeks in a partner.
DeLuna makes it clear that she is an independent woman who can support herself, and her favorite color is green, possibly referencing money as the sole motivator in Mr. Hollywood's behavior. She asserts that money cannot buy true love and that she cannot be bought or manipulated by superficiality. The chorus repeats the title phrase "Mr. Hollywood," seemingly mocking the persona's attempts to impress with his wealth and status. Overall, the song delivers a message of empowerment and self-confidence in the face of materialistic and shallow individuals.
