Kids
Can't go to concerts
But r more worried
How somebody talks ya
Foolish ya
Disregard ya
But don't realize
All the pain they cause ya
Saying things that
They don't mean ya
Just to get more likes
On a tweet ya
They don't see that
They taught to be sheep ya
American dream
Can only b achieved if your asleep ya
This goes way deeper then just selling your soul ya
To become someone you gotta kill the self that you know ya
Looked the devil in his eyes and said I don't care no more ya
This mind of mine isn't for the taking
I can't fake it , every1 on fake shit
Nothing about my music shit is basic
They try to spin my words so I'm hated
Not misunderstood just lost in translation
The repetitive nature of the first part of the lyrics, "Arrests, Cautions no Convictions," suggests a cyclical theme, possibly revolving around themes of justice, consequences, and accountability. The repetition of these words could be emphasizing a pattern of behavior where individuals may find themselves in situations that could lead to trouble but manage to avoid serious consequences each time, creating a sense of continuous repetition or a lack of resolution. This repetition could also be highlighting the prevalence of these situations in society, where individuals may face arrests or warnings but ultimately escape permanent repercussions.
In the following section, the lyrics delve into the struggles and complexities of modern life, particularly for young people. The mention of kids unable to attend concerts, paired with concerns about social media interactions and the pressure to conform for validation, touches upon themes of identity, peer pressure, and the impact of social media on self-perception. The reference to seeking approval through social media likes and the idea of following the herd instead of pursuing individual dreams reflects the underlying theme of struggling to maintain authenticity in a world driven by external validation and conformity.
The lyrics also touch on the idea of sacrificing one's true self in pursuit of success or societal standards. The lines "To become someone you gotta kill the self that you know" and facing the devil and choosing not to care anymore convey a sense of defiance against societal norms and expectations. The artist seems to be rejecting the idea of compromising their values or identity for the sake of fitting in or attaining success, highlighting the internal conflicts and moral dilemmas faced in navigating one's path in a society that may value conformity over individuality.
The concluding lines express the frustration of being misunderstood or misrepresented, particularly in the context of the artist's music. The reference to being "lost in translation" suggests a disconnect between the artist's intentions and how they are perceived or portrayed by others. The mention of being labeled as "hated" due to misinterpretation implies a sense of isolation or alienation, where one's creative expression is misconstrued or manipulated by external forces. Overall, these lyrics delve deep into themes of authenticity, societal pressures, and the struggles of maintaining individuality within a world that often values conformity and misunderstands true intentions.
