I’m not ashamed to say that Stick helped change my life for the positive. When I was struggling to stay clean and sober, i dunno why, but i would put my headphones in and Stick Figure really loud, and it would legitimately help me get through some pretty trying times mentally. I just passed 4 years clean 🤙

Just discovered this guy now..... I'm currently really really struggling with my sobriety and soon as that rattle kicks my arse end up using again. I've smoked Cocaine nearly everyday since 2006. I was 26 then. I'm 43 now. I was coping better and using less prior to having my prescription for 60mg of 5mg Diazepam daily last May. I've been on them since 1997. So my withdrawal symptoms are pretty severe and it seems that the Rock is the only thing I am able to feel a little Peace and Calm from tbh.... The stigma around it is awful yeah... But it is what I do, not what I am!!! I agree that it makes folks do Desperate things (I have witnessed it). I fortunately am very self aware so can see if it begins to make me "Cluck"....If so...I literally just stop right there in that realisation for at least a few days till that desperation feeling passes. Yet as you'll guess it has always pulled me back!🙄😑 As I NEED to find a state of contentment within my mind. Reading your comment has genuinely given me a spark of hope though that the things I am so desperately searching for are actually possible..... Please respond ☮️😎💜

@Gaynor Frain Hey brotha! I’m by no means an expert. I too struggled with cocaine and alcohol ever since I was 14 and I watched my Mom suffer and ultimately succumb to her battle with Cancer. Every day, filling the void with any substance that would numb the hurt and take my mind away, even if for a little bit. It took me moving to a whole new state (where I only knew my brother) with only 3 backpacks full of my clothes and a bus ticket to remove myself far enough from that scene. I was exhausted from always NEEDING to scratch the itch. I hated my job, hated where I lived, no longer got along with the person I was living with…I was legitimately exhausted. It wasn’t until I was ready to quit for myself though, that it finally clicked. As far as alcohol? that was even more difficult to quit, I almost lost my life to health complications from years of abuse. That was MY bottom. In that moment of being told my liver was in the beginning stages of organ failure, that I realized this shit isn’t ME. I’m better than this, and it’s time to get my shit together. I was fortunate enough to have a healthy support system in my brother and sister in-law….but it wasn’t easy. I quit and relapsed I don’t know how many times before that final scare. I’ll never have a “healthy” liver, ever again. But the point is, I’m still here. I’ll never stop fighting, and it’s exactly like you said….”it’s what I do, not who I am”….well man, today is the day you can switch that “what I do” to “what I did”…Youre a warrior brother! Firstly however, you gotta learn to love and respect yourself again and figure out who you truly ARE. When you can do that? You can do some amazing things. Keep your head up and dig deep! You got this!! I believe in you dude 🤙🤙🤙

@matthew Smith Thank you so much for bothering to read my comment and especially to reply to me...Feels good brotha ☮️ Did my battle with Alcohol in 2001. Not drank since. However my Narcotic battle is STILL raging on....I took myself and my Son out of a Mentally abusive relationship in 2017 but as his Dad's name is on his Birth certificate he abducted him in 2018 but due to neglect by Dad Social services put him into a Foster home in 2019... I've not seen him since then... The Rock has been (a bad) a way to cope with that and also my Mental health....I lost my purpose the day he was taken... Leading to heavier using... My Dad passed in 2011...My Mum says she Hates and is ashamed of me therefore will not acknowledge me at all... I've noone else, sadly... Drugs have been my best friend since 8 years old so I know nothing else 😔

@Gaynor Frain And that’s why you can never judge a persons actions without understanding their hardships and pain. Just because you share DNA with someone, does NOT mean you HAVE to love them. I don’t talk to 99% of my family due to their judgmental attitudes. But I’ll tell you what! I’ll never let their miserable, narrow-mindedness ever get in the way of my health and happiness. I’d rather be alone and healthy with my dogs, then “popular” and surrounded by negativity.
