Which burns and cooks the clouds
Orange and red get in the sky
Black trees get in the water
Like sounding out images
Our context, our characters
Our blood boiling, we have facts
The sky reflects
Glory in the field
We laid down ourselves
To bleeding out on what ground were
Turning our heads or hold the lens right
Leaving room to take up
This way the smoke rise
Down low, the ash go
Glory in the field
Which burns and cooks the clouds
Orange and red get in the sky
Black trees get in the water
Like sounding out images
Our context, our characters
Our blood boiling, we have facts
The sky reflects
In "Glory in the Field," the singer brings attention to the beauty and grandeur of nature, specifically in the context of a field on fire. The lines "Orange and red get in the sky / Black trees get in the water" create vivid imagery of the contrasting colors and elements present in the scene. The next lines, "Like sounding out images / Our context, our characters / Our blood boiling, we have facts / The sky reflects," suggest that the fire in the field is a metaphor for a larger conflict or struggle in life. The singer is reflecting on their experiences and finding meaning in the chaos.
The repetition of the chorus underscores the theme of finding beauty and purpose in unexpected places, even in the midst of destruction. The lyrics "We laid down ourselves / To bleeding out on what ground were" evoke the idea of sacrifice and resilience in the face of adversity. Overall, "Glory in the Field" is a thought-provoking and introspective song that encourages listeners to find meaning in even the most difficult moments of life.
