Thoughts
tome. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lately I
Lately I've been thinking
What if I go around the other way
And then you found somebody else to Take my place

Maybe I'm
Still on the bed and dreaming
Of the perfect paradise
And I never
Never knew
She's right in front of my eyes

Oh the sun and the moon
Was to shine for us two
Sometimes I'm not sure
If I was built for you
I know fate tells the truth
And my heart would know soon

I don't have no money
I don't own no car
I'm I'm pretty lost without you
My baby My star

Your hazel eyes compliments
Your heart of gold and
Was a man so cold
To be the one to hold you
For tomorrow and forever

Oh the sun and the moon
Was to shine for us two
Sometimes I'm not sure
If I was built for you
I know fate tells the truth
And my heart would know soon

I don't have no money
I don't own no car
I'm pretty lost without you
My baby My star

Oh the sun and the moon
Was to shine for us two
Sometimes I'm not sure
If I was built for you
I know fate tells the truth
And my heart would know soon

I don't have no money
I don't own no car

I'm pretty lost without you
My baby My star

Overall Meaning

In Thoughts, tome. sings about thinking and contemplating about the possibility of losing someone special. The opening lines, "Lately I've been thinking, What if I go around the other way, And then you found somebody else to take my place" reveals a sense of fear and insecurity about the people we love leaving us for someone else. The line, "Maybe I'm still on the bed and dreaming, of the perfect paradise, and I never, never knew, she's right in front of my eyes" highlights the theme of taking someone for granted. Sometimes, we become so blind to the love someone has for us, and we fail to see the wonderful things they bring into our lives.

The chorus is about destiny and fate. "Oh, the sun and the moon was to shine for us two, sometimes I'm not sure if I was built for you, I know fate tells the truth, and my heart would know soon." The sun and moon, representing both day and night, are two of the most significant natural elements that are crucial to human existence. The metaphor of destiny and fate being as important as the sun and moon shows how essential it is to know the truth about love and the people we love. It emphasizes how vital it is to look beyond their outward appearances and money.

In the last verse, the artist tells us about how much he depends on his lover and how lost he would be without her. "I don't have no money, I don't own no car, I'm pretty lost without you, my baby, my star." We understand that it isn't material things that make a relationship thrive and survive, but the person who holds our hearts. The artist also mentions how her hazel eyes and heart of gold make her a treasure to be cherished.

Overall, the song emphasizes how important it is to value the people we have in our lives, especially those we love. We never know when they would leave, and we should appreciate them while they are still with us.

Nettle and Bone was definitely my favorite book last year, but I also really liked Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries and Tress of the Emerald Sea.

Yay! I’m enjoying this channel a lot! Your recommendations are really solid (currently loving NK Jemisin’s Broken Earth 3ogy, about halfway through the third book & it’ll be so bittersweet to finish it…). Thanks! ☮️💜📚

100% agree on The Anthropocene Reviewed. The audiobook is fantastic and it's surprisingly moving. As a nature lover, the chapter on the Hawaiin bird really got me with the recordings of the bird call.

Sounds like a strong year! One of my December reads also ended up making it onto my favorites last-minute too.
I really want to pick up Some Desperate Glory (love a sibling story!)

@Jessticulates

I finally read Nettle and Bone this month and I can't believe it took me so long to get to it because I'm obsessed. The lack of fanart hurts me deeply.

@ThoughtsOnTomes

ugh same

@estavaria7327

Thanks for posting! I added a bunch to my list from this.

I read For the Wolf when it wss released and then read For the Throne the week it was released. I found For the Throne was not as good but it was still a pretty decent book.

@arleneallen8824

This is the best list yet! So many of your favorites are my favorites too!
