We found her as a tiny kitten, abandoned in a corn/soy field that was about to be tilled under! I'm betting the assh*le who flung her out there was counting on her being tilled with it! 😡 I hope they get filled under! Anyway, I was out with my dogs (2 lovely rotten-weilers, sweetest dogs you'd have ever met) and we heard her teeny tiny mewing coming from the field. I was rather pregnant at the time, so I hobbled out there looking and calling "kitty kitty kiiiiiity!". That's when I saw this speck with pointy ears, shivering and crying out! Hubby brought out a can of cat food to lure it in, but it was already coming to me before he even opened the lid. She was so teeny tiny she could sit in the palm of my hand. Her eyes were open and she had kitten face (not that blank newborn face they have until about 4 or 5 weeks) so I guessed she was about 5 or 6 weeks old, way too young to have been taken away from mama! I put her in the pocket of my jacket and she curled up and purred herself to sleep in there as I headed into the house. My rotties followed me and were eager to see her. They wanted to mother her! My female rottie going as far as lying down to let it try to suckle, but that really didn't work, lol! So she licked it soggy, curled herself around the kitty to earn her up, and pronounced it hers. They were best buddies from then on. The kitten would bounce her way up onto my belly and curl up there while I was reading or watching TV. We decided, since she was so small, and was always curled up into a dot on either myself or the rotties, that we'd name her Dot.
A few months and 18 natural and painful hours of labour later, I had my daughter. We had to stay in the hospital for over a week because she stopped breathing right after she was born. Testing my limits from day one! After they found nothing wrong and certified her healthy, we got to go home. The dogs were extatic, and Dot was curious where my bump went. Once she realised the baby WAS the bump, she decided it was hers and slept next to her every chance she got. I was worried Dot would accidentally suffocate my baby, but she gave her room and would simply groom her from time to time, then curl up near her and fall asleep. It got so my daughter would instantly fall asleep if Dot was purring next to her curled up. I was so grateful for that cat! Sleep is a precious commodity!
Well, my daughter has recently graduated from high school, a year early, and with honors and college credits. She will be turning 18 in the fall. Since Dot was only a couple months old when my daughter was born (I guess that makes her the older sister) it would be okay to presume Dot will be 18 soon, as well. In fact, I think we found her in May, just before the till and planting season. She's had a pretty long life, and, a long as she's not in pain and her health isn't compromised, I can see her going on for at least a couple more years (knock on wood!) My childhood cat lived to 22-23 years old, so I don't see why Dot can't. Oh, she's also an orange tabby, which is apparently rare in females. Most orange cats are male, or so her vet says.
She's had an interesting life, but one full of love and it will continue that way!
Sorry this was long, but I just wanted to share and celebrate her life, because you never know when she may decide to shuffle off to kitty paradise. I just love her so much!

I can’t wait until the needle bases of nematocysts(jellyfish stinging cells) are developed they are at tops around 100 micrometers in diameter. They also sting so fast that jellies’ stings sometimes don’t hurt if the venom doesn’t affect mammals

@Andrei Lacerda If that's the 18 gauge needle that's the one we use to make the IVs in the pharmacy. The 16 guage is wonderful for thick medications but cores the port on the IV bag and/or the medication vial to much. I love when people say they would want a 1 gauge needle used on them!
