Come Let Us Worship
yfriday Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Seeing that you have done this great thing
Do I ask of peace between you and my enemies?
If I do they will think that I am scared
Do I ask for prosperity in the camp of my enemies?
If I do they will think that I am afraid because
They have defiled the way of the lord god all mighty
And no punishment have come on them
Indeed do for us what you did in the land of Egypt
And prove that you are God
The lyrics of YFriday's song "Come Let Us Worship" are a plea to God for his intervention and to prove his power through a demonstration of his might. The singer contemplates what they should ask of God, knowing that he has already done great things. The first option they consider is to ask for peace between themselves and their enemies, but they fear that it will be perceived as cowering in fear. The second option is to ask for prosperity in the camp of their enemies as a way of proving that God is on their side, but they fear it will be seen as an admission of defeat.
Instead, the singer asks for a sign of God's power, invoking the story of the Israelites in Egypt where God answered by fire and showed his might. This demonstrates a desire for God's power to be revealed in a tangible way, not just a vague sense of his existence. The lyrics show a deep understanding of the power dynamics between enemies and the need for divine intervention, but also a recognition that asking for help can be perceived as a sign of weakness. Ultimately, the singer's request is for God to prove himself as the one true God.
