The band was formed in 2004, and after two years of playing together, they were signed onto Warner Music Japan, on which they released their first full album. The members claim to have been influenced by acts such as Dr. Feelgood, Ramones and THE BLUE HEARTS. Their music is mostly upbeat, and is often characterized by humorous lyrics.
A boost in their popularity came in 2008, when their label gave them the opportunity to record the opening music for the popular Toei Animation series about Japanese folklore, GeGeGe No Kitaro. Being big fans of the earlier incarnations of the series, the band members accepted the offer, and shortly after they released the song as a single named the same as the series itself. Having recently released their third full album, ザ50回転ズ are building an extensive discography at a steady pace.
Members:
Vocal, guitar: ダニー (Danny)
Bass: ドリー (Dory)
Drums: ボギー (Bogie)
