Fascinoma began her musical career at the piano like many Asian children born in the US in the mid-seventies. She studied classical piano and violin and performed competitively as a teenager in various festivals throughout Cleveland, Ohio. From Top-40 radio and early incarnations of MTV, she studied the non-classical forms of Madonna, The Bangles, and Whitney Houston as well as the soulful expressions of George Michael, Michael Jackson, and the Pet Shop Boys.
On her debut album, Lin handles a range of emotion with originality of perspective –from the earnest / hilarious "I'm Walking This Road Because You Stole My Car (Don't Go)" to the more somber reflections found in "Who's Gonna Love You" ("Baby, you think you're so wise/But baby, I've seen you compromise . . .") The production on the album is sparse, but satisfies the requirements of her voice that is both vulnerable and powerful.
Produced by John Paterno (Los Lobos, Suzanne Vega), and Raffaello Mazza (Arlo Guthrie, posthumous Jimi Hendrix), with Mike Corwin (Correatown, Red Maids) on guitar, Barbara Gruska (Jenny Lewis, Benji Hughes) on drums, Bram Inscore (Beck, Peeping Tom) on bass and keys, this debut album is made for road trips and memories.
