Although Gryffin has recently been on the cusp of a major breakthrough, he began his musical journey growing up as a classically trained pianist, before expanding his sonic palette with guitar at an early age. He played in bands to initially hone his instrumental abilities, until he dove head first into the world of music production at the University of Southern California. Throughout college and beyond, Gryffin further refined his skills that have blossomed into his artistic mastery that is appreciated by his counterparts and adoring fans around the world. In his genre, artists typically DJ to showcase their talents, but live performance is where his heart lies in capturing the essence of his work.
With a world-debut at this past SnowGlobe Music Festival, Gryffin unveiled his anticipated live performance to finally connect with those who have been behind his impressive play counts. His passion and love for musicianship, and artistry within music shined through as he performed with live instrumentation (guitar, keyboard, synths, & drum pads) in a continuous dance music format to keep up the energy characteristic of DJ sets. Since this performance was a resounding success, the excitement is brewing for his next two sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ The Roxy, and New York’s Bowery Ballroom to close out his first-ever live tour.
Following the conclusion of the tour, Gryffin made the leap to his first original production, “Heading Home” featuring Josef Salvat, which immediately became #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 chart, US Viral Chart, and accumulated a million plays in one week after being released via Darkroom/Interscope Records. It’s already looking like 2016 is going to be Gryffin’s biggest year yet.

Been following signs on the road (oh)
Pretendin' to know where to go
Now we're bending and breaking the mold (oh)
Searching for hope, out on our own
Don't know what comes next
Haven't been there yet
But we feel the weight on our shoulders (ooh)
It's a wild ride
Only got one life
And we'll take on whatever it throws us
Always living on the run (always living on the run)
Never setting with the sun (never setting with the sun)
Our hearts have broken and they've loved (loved, loved, loved)
But we're still young (but we're still young)
And the best is yet to come
And the best is yet to come
And the best is yet to come
And the best is yet to come
And the best is yet to come
Always living on the run (always living on the run)
Never setting with the sun (never setting with the sun)
Our hearts have broken and they've loved (and they've loved)
But we're still young (but we're still young)
And the best is yet to come
Living our life to the full (life to the full)
Chasing our dreams as we go (dreams as we go)
When it's taking a toll we will hold on
Searching for hope, out on our own
Don't know what comes next
Haven't been there yet
But we feel the weight on our shoulders (ooh)
It's a wild ride
Only got one life
And we'll take on whatever it throws us
Always living on the run (living on the run)
Never setting with the sun (setting with the sun)
Our hearts have broken and they've loved (have broken and they've loved)
But we're still young (but we're still young)
And the best is yet to come
(Best is yet to come)
(The best is yet to come)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh-oh)
And the best is yet to come
(The best is yet to come)
And the best is yet to come
And the best is yet to come
Always living on the run (always living on the run)
Never setting with the sun (never setting with the sun)
Our hearts have broken and they've loved (hearts have broken)
But we're still young
And the best is yet to come
The lyrics to Gryffin Kyle Reynolds's song Best Is Yet To Come express the idea of not knowing what will come next in life but looking forward to it with hope and positivity. The opening lines talk about following signs on the road, pretending to know where to go, and breaking the mold while searching for hope on our own. The weight on our shoulders that is felt in the uncertainty of the future is acknowledged, but the lyrics encourage us to take on whatever life throws at us. The idea of living life to the fullest and chasing our dreams is also presented as a way of finding hope and joy.
The lyrics also suggest that even though we may have experienced heartbreak in the past, we are still young and the best is yet to come. Living on the run and never setting with the sun, to be always on the move, is also a characteristic of the singer's life. Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of optimism and a willingness to embrace whatever comes next, even if it is unknown.
