We caught up with Dan Flanagan, better known for his work with Matilda’s Scoundrels to talk about how the project came to be.
“I first started thinking about starting another band towards the end of last year. I had a bunch riffs and chord progressions written that weren’t really Matilda’s Scoundrels material. Also at this point the band was heading into a 10 week period without any gigs. I got together with Mark Tanner (The Barracks) and Dan K (Wizard Fight) and we quickly put together a bunch of songs. A few weeks later Dave Cullen (The Dead Anyways) offered to have a go at the vocals and it all clicked into place.
The general idea from the beginning was to write music that was fast and heavy, it turned out to be a lot heavier than we expected. We can fit on punk, hardcore and metal line ups. Personally most of my inspiration came from many of the awesome bands that i get to play week in week out with like Pizzatramp, Nosebleed and ROTPM as well as trying to write anything vaguely close to one of my all time favourite hardcore bands, Cursed.”
This was followed up by vocalist, Dave Cullen, who talks about the reasoning behind the songs
“It’s hard to put it into an easily digestible explanation but basically it’s about the negative psychological traits that are passed down from generation to generation being stronger than the positive ones.”
