The four piece indie rock band consists of Oliver "The Lean Mean Grilling Machine" Payn on lead vocals and guitar. Daniel "Sex Bomb" Cox on backing vocals and lead guitar, Dimples ": The Ultimate Glass Blower" on bass and backing vocals and Rob "You Think I Can Eat This?" Hardie on drums and percussion.
The quartet play a combination of songs they love (from Journey's Don't Stop Believin' to the Modest Mouse penned Float On and just about everything inbetween the two) and their own songs such as Who WIll Save You Now? and Cabin Fever.
Mustafa and the Lord first got together in early summer 2009 as an experimental group willing to try their hand at all genres of music. Founded by Sammy Reed, he brought together current drummer and bassist, Rob and Dimples as well as himself playing lead guitar and vocals, rhythm guitarist Matthew Robson, a keyboardist, who never practised with the band and Oliver Payn as guest singer. However, Oliver quickly became the regular singer and Sammy concentrated on playing guitar.
After a few small gigs over the summer, Sammy left the band to attend University, and the other four members brought in current lead guitarist, Daniel Cox, as well as Oliver deciding to play guitar as well as singing. With Daniel, Mustafa started to write their own songs and after 3 months without a gig, returned to release Cabin Fever! to the world.
Soon after, guitarist Matthew Robson, left the band to follow other musical pursuits and left the band as they are now. Since Matthew's departure, Mustafa and the Lord have written songs; Who Will Save You Now? and Silence Is Golden and are currently making a name for themselves as an up-and-coming band in the local area. To this day, Mustafa and the Lord have supported bands such as Won Mississippi and young Newcastle band Brilliant Mind.
Following the band's quick rise to popularity in the local area, they released their self produced début EP, "Unite!!!" in early January 2010. Featuring the songs "Cabin Fever!", "Silence is Golden" and "Who Will Save You Now?". This was received very well and a large number of these were sold, increasing knowledge of the band.
At the start of Summer 2010, Mustafa compiled and released the album "Everyone Knows...(Pterodactyls Cant Stand the Screech of Guitars). This Album consisted of new favourites "The 10.27", "Hide and Seek" and "Shades" as well as 7 other new songs.
