A review taken from the internet archive on July 21, 2004 from bleenko:
"It's like watching Pinwheel while your robot friends hang out all around you...
I've been able to listen to this entire release over and over since it was released almost a year ago.
"You" wonderfully weaves low quality samples and clickety, simple drums into something reminiscent of a background track to those old 80's claymations and cartoons used in children's shows like Sesame Street or Pinwheel. From the opening beat of "92 Math Problem", to the final "good-bye" melody of "State Championship", the entire release is worth listening to in one sitting. It's wonderfully coherent in its style across tracks, and the particular ordering works well.
Yet, for me, "You" isn't so much about its sound, which is awesome, as it is for the series of mental images it evokes. Every time I listen to it it's always a wonderful cartoon. It evokes images of wind-up toys, night time at the toy store, and wacky surrealistic children's cartoons of the 80's.
It's definitely and niche release, and it's a shame that many who fall into this niche will never come across it. But then again, the rarity of it, being a net release, makes it something more of a gem, wouldn't you say?"
