The band was founded on a love for Sublime, Primus, NoFX, Spacehog, RHCP, Johnny Cash... the spectrum is fairly broad. Have a listen try to pick them out.
The band was originally formed by Ryan Newman (guitar/vox) and Chris Freeman (bass) in Vancouver, Canada, around 2002. Keith Gallant (drums) joined later and they went on to record "Bombast & Affectation" in 2004, recorded/produced by Felix Fung and Brooks Norman (Little Red Sounds, Vancouver). After a brief dummerless period, Chris Delschneider stepped in. With a new member and new tunes, they went to Colin at The Hive (sadly no more) to record "This too is Disposable".
When a Canadian Rockies tour and Trans-Canada tour yielded little reward, The Panic relocated to Montreal, Canada, in 2008 to seek out greener pastures. This was, however, a solo move for Newman, leaving his rhythm section behind.
The move proved fruitful and Newman continues to make his own brand of music with the Panic moniker, as well as collaborating with Plunt.
