He teaches violin at the Laois School of Music and is founder and conductor of the Laois Orpheus orchestra.
Mixing a multitude of styles that he has picked up over his travels and throwing in the odd wah wah pedal to creating a very individual style .He can sound Demonic or Angelic, Beethoven or Bartok, Skinner or Clemence!
Shane Booth plays guitar and sings.
Shane learned how to play guitar from his father, who was a music teacher, founder of a gospel / folk choir, and all round performer, actor, musician, singer and Laois county footballer! Growing up in the countryside in Laois long hours were spent playing and learning songs from all over the world.
At age 10, Shane took part in Cór na nÓg, the national children's choir of Ireland, singing locally and also in the National Concert Hall.
Previous and current musical groups include Ceolaire, Global Trad Underground, Rhiannon & The Face Collectors, Judith Mok and her Hamsa Ensemble, Shanakua and Rain Dogs.
Shane has played at the Electric Picnic and the Indiependence music festivals in Ireland and has also travelled extensively, performing at the Bosphorus University in Istanbul as part of Yale week and having played in almost every country in Europe.
Shane has a strong inclination towards performance, busking around Dublin including a performance with Glen Hansard for TV3. He has collaborated with many artists including sharing a bill in Vicar St., Dublin with Chrsty Moore while also having pieces he has recorded and arranged for Judith Mok played on RTÉ radio, Ireland's national broadcasting service.
Shane draws inspiration for his works from nature, the world around us and how we all interact and shape the world. Shane uses intricate finger-picking techniques, rich chord voicings and powerful rhythmic structures in his guitar playing and places a strong emphasis on symbolism in his lyrical content combined with a love of harmonies in his singing to make up one half of this dynamic duo.
