Their journey began in early 2015 when Sjowgren uploaded a collection of self-recorded, guitar-based songs that were subsequently released as the Demos EP in June of that year. Shortly after, they unveiled their summery single "Seventeen," featuring a fully-realized band arrangement. The song gained significant attention after being featured in a commercial for an online marketplace in early 2016. "Seventeen" garnered millions of streams and attracted the interest of New York City label 300 Entertainment, distributed by Atlantic Records. The label officially released the track for digital download in mid-2016.
Sjowgren continued their musical endeavors with the single "Now & Then," which achieved success on streaming charts in early 2017. In 2018, the band returned with two stand-alone tracks, "Beginners" and "Better Off." They resurfaced in 2020, independently releasing the EP win'20.
Although Sjowgren's name may evoke a Scandinavian influence and their sound could be reminiscent of Nordic pop, the trio's indie pop style incorporates a retro-soul edge, primarily characterized by the unaffected alto vocals of their lead vocalist.
As a musical project, Sjowgren places a greater emphasis on creativity rather than pursuing widespread fame. They release their content through their own label, Long Time Friend Discount, and prefer to remain primarily behind the scenes, focusing on songwriting, production, and artistic direction.

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's getting colder
And the winds coming round
And a new season tells it's time
A change is on your mind
Sit still clouds are moving by
But you can keep your cool this time
Just sit this one out to the side
Sit this one out and sit tight
Sit this one out and sit tight
The song “Change” by Sjowgren is a reflection on the inevitable changes that come with the changing of seasons. The lyrics speak to the idea that change is constant but can be managed with patience and resilience. The image of rain and cold weather in the first line creates a feeling of discomfort and unease, but also represents the natural cycle of seasons. The arrival of colder weather and wind signifies the end of one season and the beginning of something new. The chorus emphasizes the importance of staying calm and patient in the face of change. The phrase “Sit still clouds are moving by” encourages listeners to wait out the change, knowing that it will eventually pass.
The second verse expands on the idea of enduring change with strength and perseverance. The line “But you can keep your cool this time” emphasizes the idea that change can feel overwhelming and unpredictable, but with experience and resilience, it can be managed. The repetition of “Sit this one out and sit tight” emphasizes the importance of waiting patiently for the storm to pass, and trusting that we will come out on the other side.
Overall, the song “Change” is a reminder that change is inevitable but can also be an opportunity for growth and transformation. The lyrics encourage listeners to stay calm, patient, and resilient in the face of change.
