After following a rock ‘n roll dream down a path that led to living out of a rundown warehouse in Regent Park, Toronto with nothing but a band, John Riess, Rob Matthews, and Darryl Siegmund reached a crossroad that compelled the question, “Quit or Continue?”. It was at this very moment in time that John (vocals), Rob (guitar/keys), and Darryl (drums) decided that their story was All But Over.
Bassist Micky Mo joined soon after and the band immediately began recording their debut EP, which was produced by Mike Langford (Parabelle, Evans Blue) and released in summer 2010. The EP featured five distinctively modern, hard rock tracks and is matched with an equally dynamic live show that together built a significant following.
“Toronto-based All But Over lays down hard rock that is intense yet accessible enough to include an occasional power ballad…this four-piece kicked through driving guitars, soaring vocals, and youthful energy.” (Lonely Vagabond)
Shortly after, the band released a free All But Over app that offers iPhone, Android, iPad, and iPod Touch users instant and portable access to all of ABO’s multimedia as well as exclusive dibs on news and other content. And it only got better.
The track “Lies” has since been featured in the 2011 indie thriller “Kennyville”, followed by a haunting music video that was produced in association with Kids Help Phone. Surely enough, in December 2011 both MuchMusic and MuchLOUD picked up the video and put it on rotation, exposing the band to thousands upon thousands of viewers.
This is All But Over. Stay tuned for the upcoming music video for “Can’t Trust Myself” and highly anticipated second EP, due this spring. Visit www.allbutover.com or download the ABO app for updates.
