His production the school of Jook and Jam has been appreciated by audiences ranging in age from toddlers to the retired adult and everyone in between. Workshops are presented with humor, audience interaction, as well as with a deep understanding of music history.
Dr. Sanders has performed at many recognized festivals including the Lucerne Blues Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival, Many of the Delta Blues Festivals and the 1996 Summer Olympic entertainment festivities at Central Park, Atlanta, GA.
In addition he has performed with such artists as Honey Boy Edwards, Mulgrew Miller, Cassandra Wilson, John Birdsong, Paula West, Debra Brown, Bobby Rush, David Lee Durham, Jessie Robinson, Bill Howl-N-Madd Perry, Ron Wilkins, Craig Harris, Burgess Gardner, Joe Jennings, Alvin Fielder, London Branch, Vickie Baker, Chris Parker, Little Dave Thompson, Willie King, and Carl Allen among others.
As the Director of the BB King Recording Studio he is involved in archiving the music of Delta musicians.. The studio’s live recording of Delta bluesman David Lee Durham’s Struggling and Straining at the historic Club Ebony became widely recognized throughout Italy, Switzerland and other parts of Europe.
Alphonso Sanders released his CD “Mississippi Influences” 2009. Alphonso Sanders and Bill Howl-N-Madd Perry released their CD “Twice as Nice” in May 2010.
Alphonso and Bill Howl-N-Madd Perry are the 2010 International Challenge 2nd Place winners for their performance as a Solo/Duo act.
