The band consists of vocalist Haruki Funasoko, guitarist and backing vocalist Azusa Kan, guitarist Kai Murakami, bassist Yuki Muraoka and drummer Junichiro Miyazawa.
After both experiencing a meaningless Christmas in 2017, Azusa Kan and Haruki Funasoko went to karaoke together for the first time. The following day, Kan contacted Funasoko and asked, "Would you like to try singing one of my songs?" Funasoko had no band experience, but Kan found her singing talent noteworthy during the karaoke session.
Having heard nothing from Kan, the impatient Funasoko drunkenly called Kan late at night in February 2018 and pleaded over the phone, "I want to sing, I want to start a band."
On April 4, 2018, the first chorus demo of their original song (later known as "AprilBlue") was completed. They aimed to launch it on April Fools' Day the following year. They had plenty of time to discuss here and there about whom to invite.
On September 17, 2018, Funasoko recorded a temporary vocal track for "AprilBlue" (with no lyrics, just improvised vocals). On the spot, they also started working on "Starlight," a song that could be completed quickly. Funasoko sent the freshly recorded audio of "AprilBlue" to Kai Murakami, Yuki Muraoka, and Junichiro Miyazawa and recruited them immediately. That's when AprilBlue was born.
Band members:
Haruki Funasoko - Vocals/Lyrics
Azusa Kan (from the band For Tracy Hyde) - Guitar/Backing Vocals
Kai Murakami (from the bands I Saw You Yesterday and Inner Wall) - Guitar
Yuki Muraoka (from the band ARAM)- Bass
Junichiro Miyazawa (from the band Seventeen Years Old And Berlin Wall)- Drums
The band has a derived unit, known as pink paper planes.
