The Band:
Virginia Norwood - Vocals, Acoustic Guitar
Virginia started performing in bands as a minor and remembers having to wait outside between sets. “I loved to sing as a child, but it wasn’t until I first heard Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart, and the backing vocalists of Lynyrd Skynyrd, that I knew I had to be in a band. I was hooked.” Virginia spent the next few decades performing in bands, graduated with a BA in Music, and studying voice with L.A.’s top vocal coaches. She now teaches private voice full time as San Diego’s only certified Speech Level Singing instructor.
Joe Norwood - Guitar and Vocals
A San Diego native, Joe is an active member of the San Diego music scene. Local performances include clubs, concerts, TV, and radio. He has performed throughout the U.S. and Canada as a member of several touring bands. Joe has extensive studio experience with his own projects, and as a session guitarist. He has written over 40 songs. Joe's many styles include: blues, rock, funk, R&B, and country. Joe was named "Country Guitarist of the Year" by the California Country Music Association (San Diego area) in 1996. He continued to perform locally with Beyond Blue. A rockin' blues band, Beyond Blue released 2 CD's. Recently Joe was co-music director for the stage play "Five Shades of Blues". Joe's diverse influences and years of experience make him a well rounded and exciting guitarist.
Bruce Crossley - Bass Guitar and Vocals
Bruce was destined to become a professional golfer, but the dreams of his family were shattered one night by a black and white TV, where as a small child he saw “The Beatles” on the Ed Sullivan show. Chicks screamin', guys playin' Rock n ' Roll with huge smiles on their faces, hell I bet they're even getting paid!!! From that day forward, an addiction started that holds strong even today. Playing guitar through most of his teens and early 20's, he was forced at gunpoint to take up the Bass. Touring every state west of the Mississippi, with groups such as “The Us Band”, “Bighorn”, “Chuck & the Tigers”, “Beyond Blue” and too many recording sessions to mention. Bruce uses Warwick Basses and Trace Elliot Amps.
Bill Greene - Keyboard
A San Diego native, Bill started playing the piano at age eight. Restless after five years of the classics, like all of us, he discovered rock and roll and the blues. He draws upon his interest in other genres such as ragtime, stride piano, R&B, jazz and funk to season his musical style. He has performed and/or recorded with Uncle Bob and the Earthmovers, the Healing Waters Band (2 CD's released), Ivyl Vinyl, the Rockaways and Sorcery (among others) in addition to performing as a solo artist.
Jamie Gray - Drums
Born Feb. 16th, 1965 in Madison, WI Jamie started playing drums by accident. “As a dreamer in my teen years playing air drums to 70’s rock and R&B, I caught the attention of three of my uncles, Tom, Dick and Don. At age 13, while playing air drum at a show in Cadillac, MI, my uncle called me on stage to play drums. When I told him I’d never played real drums, Dick said, “You had better figure it out real fast”. I pulled it off. Dick bought me my first kit which I still have.” Jamie’s style includes elements of jazz, funk, blues, rock and fusion. “I latched on to Bruce’s leg one day and made him drag me to a Beyond Blue rehearsal. He tried to deny me, but once he overheard a little jam I was performing as a demonstration on a Roland TD20SX at the NAMM Show in Anaheim and finally gave in. This proved to be a great fit and will continue to grow. Bruce has since titled me, Major Drums. I’ll buy that. Maj. James F Gray Ret.
