Bill Pearce was born May 20, 1926 in Carlisle, PA, and started playing the … Read Full Bio ↴Bill Pearce was born May 20, 1926 in Carlisle, PA, and started playing the trombone when he was 10 years old. During WWll he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served as a combat rifleman in the Pacific Theater. Later he was recruted to play his trombone for the Marine Corps Band, thus he was able to entertain both Naval and Marine Corps troops until he was discharged at the war"s end.
In the 1960's, Bill worked for the Mood Bible Institute hosting the late night radio program "Nightwatch." In the 1970's he syndicated the program "Nightsounds," which still has a great following.
Bill's music ministry includes vocal and trombone recordings with Dick Anthony, The Melody Four Quartet, and The 16 Singing Men, in addition to numerous solo sacred music albums.
In 1992, Bill was inducted into the National Religious Broadcaster's Hall of Fame in recognition of his many accomplishments in radio broadcasting. Bill died at the age of 83 on February 23, 2010 from complications of Parkinson's disease.
