He is known for using samples from extreme opposite genres and styles of music, and mixing them together to make weird and wonderful but always original mash-ups.
A reputation was gained for playing the inconceivable and unexpected, with no type of music being safe from his zany mixbag.
Although never released to the public, Crossfader made 3 albums of home mixes around 2005, each is generally perceived to be better than the previous, and these were played regularily at Sheffield house parties until he secured a regular night playing sets alongside DJ Fever for Club Couture at The Frog & Parrot in Sheffield City Centre on the second saturday of each month .
This residency lasted for 2 years until 2009, although he stopped playing his own mixes after around 4 or 5 months in, opting instead to play his favourite melange of Saturday night party music consisting of classic tunes and forgotten greats.
In 2010, a video was finally released for the self-titled cult hit, "Captain Crossfader" by Captain Crossfader to critical acclaim.
Although not officially retired, as of Oct 2010, he has announced that there are currently no plans to create any new tracks or videos, although he has not ruled it out completely.
