Their soulful tracks and bangin' party tunes have captured the attention of people from many. A range of diverse backgrounds and influences give them a smorgasbord of sounds, a veritable buffet of fresh beats, bass and acoustic grooves to please the most discerning appetite. From the rich deep Polynesian vocal harmonies of female vocalists Ofa Fanaika, Nia Falekakala and Nikkie McWalters to the smokin' sax of Josh "Bachelor of Jazz" Appleby, these cats serve up a set where the only thing you can be sure of is leaving with a smile on your dial and sore legs from dancing.
The Strings first formed for “Black n White Unite” a charity fundraiser for West End Community House, and they have been keeping up the spirit of unity throughout their involvement in the local community and music scene. Their local West End support is massive and they hold the record for the biggest ever nights at local venues The Shire, Lock ‘n’ Load and the Joynt!
They have been honoured to share the stage with artists such as The Black Seeds, Bonjah, Katchafire, King Tide, Olmecha Supreme, Rastawookie, The Bird, Dubmarine and Zennith, to name a few.
Chocolate Strings released their debut album “Carnival” which was launched to a sold out crowd at The Globe Theatre in Brisbane. They have since been tearing it up on the festival circuit, including Island Vibe Reggae Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, The Dreaming Festival, Kuranda Roots, Nimbin Mardi Grass & more. The future looks bright for these cats with the band scheduled to play the Luminate festival in New Zealand this year as well as plenty of big shows and festivals up and down the coast. Watch this space!
