His Grandfather taught him to play "Ghost Riders in the Sky". From that point on he was addicted to the instrument. He started playing in rock bands in Junior High and High School in Los Gatos, CA. Chris started performing and recording professionally in 1966 after moving to Tucson, AZ.
Chris has been mesmerizing audiences with his musical style for many years. He has put his own, highly personal stamp on the instrument, not only by the way he plays, but also by the music he interprets, and the emotions and images his music invokes. Chris performs Celtic and American folk music in the fingerstyle and flat picking traditions on 6 and 12 string guitars. Chris has shared the stage with "The Rolling Stones", "The Rascals", "The Doors", and more recently with Skyedance, Men of Worth, The Wicked Tinkers, Alasdair Fraser, Arvel Bird, and Brian Baynes, to name a few.

"...I fell in love with the woody resonance and bell-like sustain of Christopher Dean's Taylor guitar and with the delicious picking style that he is rightly known for. The tunes and songs he plays are evocative of the Irish and Scots landscapes. The playing is emotional and reflective without being maudlin or sentimental. The melodies lift the spirit and weave a magic that sustains long after the last notes fade."
- Jools Thatcher, DuggUp/Saturday Soundings, Melbourne, Australia
"Vary rarely have we heard a more sensitive and expressive guitarist who communicates through his Taylor guitar."
- Alfredo De Pietra, Keltika Magazine, Milan, Italy
"a poetic bard who speaks to your very soul...."
- Rob Lockhart, Canadian Author
