Watkins and Rickard both have substantial track records and were founder members of the Balham Alligators.
The trio primarily uses an accordion/fiddle/guitar line up and plays an authentically sourced range of Cajun, Zydeco, R&B, African, Mediaeval, Swing and Country material. The trio inhabit the fascinating frontier of these diverse but interrelated music cultures and lend to it their own heartfelt identity.
2003 saw the release on CD by Babel Records of the album ‘Vol. 1’, originally recorded some 10 years earlier. Vol 1 concerns itself largely with the cajun, african, mexican border and consists of some well chosen covers to accompany the eight originals. Described by Hinternet as ‘an unplugged jem’ it was greeted by Jazzwise as ‘a big thing in a little package from a lost age’
