on Goodnight Sandy
When we were kids, we would walk through the park
Chasing butterflies till it was almost dark
Then I’d kiss you on the cheek and turn and run away,
And as you walked up to your house, I’d turn around and say,
Chorus:
Good night, Sandy, I’ll see you in the mornin’,
Today is gone, but all good things must end.
Good night, Sandy, I’ll be dreaming of you
Till we’re chasin’ butterflies again.
Days turned to years and our friendship to romance,
Mornings in the park soon were evenings at the dance.
One summer we got married and all my dreams came true
And every night before we’d go to sleep, I’d say to you,
Chorus
(Talking):
Well, I guess our job is done now, girl,
Cause all the kids are grown.
Our friends just paid their last respects,
And now we’re all alone,
And though your lips are cold,
I can still see that warm smile,
But I guess this is the last time
I’ll kiss you for a while, so
Chorus
