Most of the tracks here are reggae treatments of old hymns that many will be familiar with. "Nearer My God, To Thee" is beautifully done with King's baritone-ish delivery accented by sweet, subtle backing vocals and some nice touches on the steel drums. "God Love Is Our Love" is a gospelized version of a song which Wyclef Jean wrote for Whitney Houston. Here it gets a rock solid reggae sound with revised lyrics which makes the song sound like it was meant to be written this way to begin with. "Honey In The Rock" is a peppy ska rendition of another classic hymn. The production by Tony Richards & C.H. Palmer is excellent throughout with a true reggae sound due though it appears most (all?) of the drums are programmed in. What's nice is that they incorporate real drum samples for fills which help deliver a true cultural reggae flavor. "I Was On His Mind" is a country flavored straight gospel song and "Send The Light" is a standout track which is neither true gospel nor reggae but has a flavor of both that bring out an uplifting affirmative message. The title track is touching yet chilling at the same type with it's hopeful and apocolyptic lyrics. Hensley King's "The King Is Coming" is a solid gospel reggae platter that should appeal to fans of all ages and has the ability to reach gospel fans previously uninitiated with the reggae sound.
