Formed by guitarist, Matt Rushton in 1994, InStereo has transformed into a high energy, non-stop rock -&- roll show receiving wide appeal in the American rockies. They have integrated midi, music sequencing, automated DMX light show, and audio sampling to the mix that brings humor and surprises around every corner.
InStereo started out as a 5 piece band showcasing two female vocalists. The band played a wide variety of high energy dance songs ranging from pop, disco, classic rock, new age rock, and heavy metal. After several staff changes including drums, bass, and female vocalist, Matt and Ted Townsend (drums) emerged as the catalyst to keep the show alive. Tom Nedreberg (bass) had been a long time friend of Matt and his rumbling bass rhythms and wide vocal range fit perfectly into the mix. Later, Kyle Johnson (aka Bill or Billy Muffin) (keyboards and lights) joined the band, bringing the visual aura of his DMX light show, and his entertaining, boundless energy. Kyle Johnson left the band for about three years before he returned in Jan 2008.
The band is famous for bringing current, popular music to the stage with the arrangement and energy of the original artist. There isn't a genre InStereo won't tackle. If it gets people moving, it gets played.
In addition to their heart-thumping cover tunes, InStereo's original music has been written with the same enthusiastic energy. Imagine a hint of 80's and funk, coupled with a strong Led Zeppelin-style back beat, rounded out with the rowdiest Chili Peppers tune, and you've got InStereo. When it's time for the ballad, the band brings the house down as the slow dancers slowly go...down.
Band highlights include opening act for Barenaked Ladies, Cheryl Crow, The Little River Band, Quiot Riot, and Joan Jett.
