For a long a time underrated, he became best known for his role on, Hannah Montana, where acts as Jackson, Hannah's brother. It has been since 2009 which its secondary musician career has been revealed. In reality, Earles in all of these years never unveiled his musical identity, always keeping it secret with various false aliases. Only in the ending of 2009, he declared to be the composer of most of songs signed under names of Psycho Motel (not to be confused with the english metal band with same name), Devil's Dance, Pan, Kano, Marcus Fischer, Black Heartshape Attack, Music for Cats and Sexual Healing. In fact, after this heavy sentence, he also accused Miley Cyrus and his father Billy Ray Cyrus for undebt work appropriation, to have used most of his compositions for the tv serie itself and in various Hannah Montana concerts. Earles has also asked Disney for a fiscal reimbursement, saying its wanting of take distances himself from that association, defining it "mean and sly".
He also never released any kind of informations regarding his musical activity, neither about the session line-up. He only declared to have wrote most of his tracks.
Musically, Earles has always been an eclectical artist, so much it results too difficult to define his music, which ranges from a plenty of styles, focusing on a composition elaboration highly influenced by various musical genre mixture, such as rock, pop, powerpop, emo, hardcore punk, techno, house, elettronica, trance, ambient, sometimes with simply works, other times with really atypical and experimental results.
All of his works were homemade released. Only in 2009, Century Media decided to publish most of them.
With his last album, "Hearts of Paper", Jason Earles stopped with his musical experimentations, giving attention on writing a blues-influenced-melodic rock music with some ambient, country and electronic element. In this album it can be found Natalie Cole's cover "Unforgettable".
