Known for being the lead singer of the band Cocofunka, he has been part of several musical projects. His musical style has been associated with the alternative Latin scene.
He became known in his native country in 2008 as a founding member and lead singer of the band Cocofunka. In addition to his career with that project, he founded Javier Arce y los de Allá in 2012 and Don Cairo in 2013. In his career and with his different projects he has accumulated more than 50 million plays and has performed on more than 500 stages including SXSW (USA), Envision Festival (CR), Festival Selvámonos (Peru), Plaza Condesa (Mexico), as well as visiting Nicaragua, Panama and touring the whole of Costa Rica.
He is known for his particular energy on stage and the eclectic nature of his musical tastes.
In August 2016 he announced in Noisey magazine that he would start a parallel solo career in electronic music, fusing styles such as downtempo with elements of R&B and Latin American folk. As a prelude, he released the single "Clavel", which features a collaboration with New York producer Weird Inside. The song was selected by various platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify among the best of new Latin American music at the time of release, reaching over a million plays on the latter. The radio premiere was on KEXP-FM. The song was released on KEXP-FM.
In 2018 he debuted his live show in trio format at festivals in his country such as Envision and Epicentro.
With only 5 singles released and more than 2 million plays, he has worked and collaborated with artists such as Run the Jewels (USA), weird inside (USA), Fármacos (Chile), Lagartijeando (Arg), Soy Emilia (Col), Macha Kiddo (CR-Arg) and more.
