Combining influences from the past with contemporary ideas, creating swing in a timeless way. Smooth jazz for today...
Exceptional Italian jazz pianist and composer, Marco Marconi spends much of his time writing jazz which he regularly performs in concert. Marco originally composed many of his pieces for solo piano but having met fellow Italians, Mauro Giorgeschi, an outstanding drummer and Giulio Angori, a highly talented bass player, the music gradually took on a new form and in 2007 the Marco Marconi Trio evolved.
There is an incredible empathy between the players and this is apparent to the listeners with advanced interplay and stunning improvisations from each of the musicians. If you are lucky enough to see the trio live in concert then you will see and feel the harmony between this talented group.
The idea of performing original music and jazz standards inspired the trio and the groove that they achieve alternates with intrinsic sonority and resonance, fluid improvisations and moments full of pathos and melodiousness.
The Trio performs regularly in festivals, events, private parties and corporate events throughout Italy and are looking forward to a tour of the UK at the end of 2010, arranged by their manager, Harry Finegold of ACA Managment.
Finalists in the Mediteranean Jazz Contest (Elba Island) in July 2009 and second in the Barga Jazz Contest (Tuscany) in August 2010.
First CD self published in September 2009, Keep the Way Clear, to great acclaim from critics and public alike.
Editor of JazzIt, Luciano Vanni, wrote "The timbre of Marco Marconi's piano playing is sharp and cutting edge, far from the usual soft, opaque sounds of contemporary jazz. On this foundation the pianist takes us inside a repertoire which has its roots deep in classic and modern jazz standards, with reworkings of pieces like Beautiful Love, Time Remembered, Take the “A” Train and ‘Round Midnight."
