One of the few professional lute song duos in the United States, Mignarda specializes in thoughtful programming that illuminates the vibrant mingling of renaissance music and poetry. Noted for awakening modern audiences to an appreciation for historical music, Ron & Donna maintain an active schedule in touring, recording and teaching. Mignarda performs throughout the U.S. with an international audience for their 9 critically-acclaimed recordings.
In addition to live performances, their music has gained international exposure through radio and television broadcasts. Mignarda's publications include a series of 12 music editions, scholarly articles, reviews and the internationally-popular weekly blog, Unquiet Thoughts.
The couple met in Cleveland, Ohio, singing Gregorian chant & renaissance polyphony in a 5-voice schola providing liturgical music for the Latin Tridentine Mass. They spent a year refining their music while living in the wilderness, in a remote log cabin in the Siskiyou Mountains, with bears, mountain lions, eagles and elk for their only audience. Now celebrating their 10th year as a duo, they make their home in a handmade house in the forest of rural upstate New York.
