1993 - 1996: Rapping for fun because it seemed like a cool thing to get into. Laughable freestyles and embarrassing things happened during this era.
1997 - 2000: Getting a bit more serious. Still not good. Traded homemade cassettes/CD-R with friends. Usually featuring cheesy beats I’d made on cheap keyboards and recorded on karaoke machines & early computer-based recording rigs. Style was largely structured around imitating things I was listening to + artist/friends I admired. Growing artistically. Endearing, awkward, & cringe inducing.
2001 - 2002: Dreamed up the moniker PreciseHero. Group I was in fell apart. Peers faded away. Worked alone.
2003 - 2005: Linked with Natural Born. Started recording new material. More aligned with the “underground/backpack/rappity-rap” style. More creative puberty. Self released a terrible EP. Gained some local traction. Linked with SP. “modest signal” was born!
2007 - 2010: P-Vine Records showed interest. Friends contributed beats. Gathered past material + some new pieces. Finally getting a bit better at the craft. Out comes “Particle (moments)”! *HIATUS* Lofty ideas for the next project. Things didn’t go as planned. “Daydreamer Dialogue” leaks out. *HIATUS* Promo tunes for Gaijin Games’ “BIT.TRIP” series. *HIATUS* Song for Suburban Sprawl’s Holiday Sampler *HIATUS* A spare song here and there, then somewhere in there “Later Recollection” happened…
2011: *Peeks head out* Friends encourage to continue making music. Starts self-producing again. Tweaks the sound, shifts the focus, does things a little different than before. I think I’m getting a grip on some things. Suburban Sprawl gets a new tune for the holidays. “Wide-Eyed Serial” springs out!
2012: “Wide-Eyed Serial” gets expanded into “Canon” which eventually sees a CD release in Japan. Surprise - a new holiday carole! A scrapped video game design project yields “In The Reverie (OST)”. The need to collaborate got “Crossed” going. Circumstances turned it into a single instead of a full blown project. The day to day mundane routine/the fun of making beats birthed “A.M. Stretch”. *BREAK*
2013: Retired? Not retired? Semi-retired? Functionally-retired?! Just tired? Solo material lands on the back burner. A name was decided upon & work begins on a group project. Puts use to the made up label named WonderKind 202 to release limited edition collaborative cassettes/flexi-disc with Beagles & Rheason Love. Compiled another batch of loops & instrumental sketches in “Avec Moi” and, of course - added more unconventional Xmas music to Suburban Sprawl’s holiday compilation. (naturally!)
2014-20XX: Instrumental sketches, holiday compilation track, one last collaborative project gets wrapped up, & another visit to Japan. PreciseHero leaves it to the next generation to make interesting things & take it further than he could've. Officially becoming a relic to be discovered later & speculated about. Desmond continues focusing on other creative avenues.
