Living in Glasgow before it was de rigueur, they collected a fair local following despite playing only four live shows before they dismembered in 2003, and their debut self-produced four-track single Pirate Radio sold out its entire run.
An EP, Plural(s), and an album, Exploding Songs, were planned and demoed to various degrees before the band split during the recording of Plural(s). Saigon High Chair Pirates were later to reform at an exhibition of Gameboy music, and should currently be considered 'on hiatus'. The Pirate Radio single, finished demos for Plural(s) and partial ones intended for Exploding Songs were collected with remixes by national forest, Sandy and the Butcher, and others and issued as Discography in 2004.
Two of the three core Saigon members, Germlin and yoko, oh no! currently tour solo as well as together under the name gay against you, and the other, Tom Violence, performs as part of 30kb. Members of Saigon's artistic collective and associates went on to bands including the flying matchstick men, le reno amps, grnr, soulhopper and shards.
