Born in Los Angeles, but raised in Davis, California. Wilkes sews 21st Century electronic music together with a deep blues/motown influence, his versatile sound capturing the emotional facets of both genres.

What began as an extensive background in blues and jazz piano, evolved into making beats at a very young age. Wilkes began making hip hop beats for artists in the Bay area around the age of 15, and continued doing so for the next few years.

After moving to LA for college, Sam Wilkes was invited to make beats for several newly signed hip hop artists. This opportunity, although prestigious, encourged him to embark on a different journey, starting to develop his own sound rather than other people’s exploits. Through a combination of the motown sound he was brought up on and the 21st century electronic music he loves, and the oddly soulful voice he posses, Wilkes has developed a truly unique sound.
