The band entered the New York scene as independently as independent gets. Handling all aspects of releases on their own and without any traditional promotion, their debut singles racked up over 5 million cumulative plays on Spotify, landed on the coveted Weekly Buzz and New Music Friday playlists and crashed the platform’s U.S. and Global Viral Top 10. Early praise came from Noisey and other tastemakers as the band wowed audiences throughout the city since their 2016 arrival.
With an EP and several sold out shows under their belt, Satellite Mode returned in 2018 debuting their single, "Gave It All” on Sirius XM’s Alt-Nation. Their single “Terrified” (as heard on the MTV Movie Awards) was released in July 2018. The band ended the year with a successful headlining tour and a run supporting GUSTER.
The band’s latest single “Kissing In Photographs” was released in January 2019 along with an animated video, co-produced with the music publication The Wild Honey Pie. After a run of shows with LA based artists RKCB, Shoffy and James Supercave, Satellite Mode will be sharing the stage with The Band Perry in May of 2019.

The first verse of Satellite Mode's "Wild Excuses" talks about how the singer finds her own identity when she is with someone else. She sees the person she's with as a way to be seen, to be noticed. However, she questions whether she will need rescuing from that person because she doesn't know why she's so drawn to them, and she feels like she's lost control. The singer describes that it's only in hindsight that she can read between the lines of the situation, indicating that she's not able to fully understand things in the moment. The chorus begs the person she is with to guide her through the chaos of their relationship and to give her insight into what they want. Although she may not always understand the person, she's down to try.
In the second verse, she describes how they are two birds of a feather chasing the American dream, but they cross every line to get there. Despite the improprieties, they still stick together. The chorus repeats, and the singer describes how she can't escape the thoughts of this person in her head, and they're always running around in her mind. The song ends with the singer acknowledging that her lover doesn't believe her when she says she's not in love with them, indicating that there are still some unresolved feelings despite the tumultuous relationship.
