Formed in Oakland in the early 1970s the Sons and Daughters of Lite release… Read Full Bio ↴Formed in Oakland in the early 1970s the Sons and Daughters of Lite released an album called "Let The Sunshine In" .There music is an Afro-Latin-Jazz fusion of soul, funk and heavy percussion. The title track became a jazz dance classic, courtesy of heavy play by top UK DJ Gilles Peterson.
Re-Release in 2000 on Luv n' Haight / Cargo.
Original band leader Basuki Bala was acompanied by percussionist Babatunde. Trumpet player Marty Payne and vocalists Jeanne Cuffey-Tatum, Kalamu Chache and Lakiba Pittman. All are still performing but in their own bands/projects.
