Blurring the lines between film scores, electronic music, classical composition, and other styles, this Swedish artist is all about setting the bar higher in terms of creativity and exciting concepts...His most recent studio release, Express Lanes, is quite remarkable because it is an intelligent composition, but it is also very catchy and easy to relate to. In fact, the song is spontaneous and direct, going for an impressive and one-of-a-kind feel...If you are a fan of seminal artists like Jon Hopkins, Air, and Boards of Canada, you should definitely give St Eriks Street’s music a go, because it might be right up your alley!" - The Bandcamp Diaries.
Joel Zarders, who goes by performing name St Eriks Street, was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. He grew up listening to best-selling and hugely influential Swedish artists. With the catchy hooks and melodic choruses of ABBA, Europe, Roxette, and Ace of Base bouncing around in his head, he would sit down at a keyboard and try to replicate commercial hits such as The Final Countdown and Dancing Queen.
Joel and family settled in Pasadena, California when he was 6 years old. He would continue his musical journey by playing and learning the piano with his dad, a drummer/pianist who played in bands in Los Angeles for many years. He is classically trained on the viola and has played guitar for over 15 years.
