Overview
Equal parts rap entertainer and improvisational violinist, Tha Street Stringa weaves rap, song, spoken word and playing together in a way only a few greats have done. She’s in good company with the likes of Prince, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Jamie Foxx and B.o.B as artists who both play AND perform – and are respected for both.
As a female entertainer, Tha Street Stringa possesses both the strength of Tha Streets and the femininity of the violin. Her music and live shows (with all-female band) are exciting, provocative, intelligent, articulate, funny, hype, energetic, fun, and interactive.
Just as the creativity of Tha Streets is birthed of adversity and improvisation, so Tha Street Stringa brings both lyrical creativity and musical improvisation to the stage and the CD. Just like cooking a soul food dinner often required making the most of whatever was left in the kitchen or available at the time, Tha Street Stringa is gourmet soul in all areas: lyricism, songwriting, production, engineering, arrangements, performing and poetry.
As a music industry powerhouse, Tha Street Stringa is a songwriter; producer; industry-respected engineer of artists ranging from Bun-B to Devin the Dude; an independent record label owner; and a well-sought-after motivational speaker and music business educator. Additionally, Tha Street Stringa’s reach extends far beyond simply being a pretty face on stage. She provides record label project management and consulting services; educational products designed for rappers, producers and violinists; music business education; and online engineering services.
Tha Street Stringa is sexy but not slutty; intimate yet universal; and a master of using both the spoken and instrumental voice to speak the mind and heart of females around the world.
Target Market
Focused on female empowerment, Tha Street Stringa’s primary audience is females of all ages:
• School-aged (Elementary / Middle School / High school):
o Relationship with mom/dad, boys, dating, sex, fashion, body image, hair, peer pressure, drugs, partying & having fun
• College / Young Adult:
o Self image, sex, sexuality, hope for the future, breakups, marriage, domestic violence, career, fame, abortion, child support, baby daddy, partying & having fun
• Adult Women:
o Self awareness, divorce, starting over, relationships, love, children, body image, finances, growing old, beauty
She travels extensively to schools at all levels with custom-tailored presentations to the issues of interest to girls and women. These presentations include empowering messages incorporated with the live show.
The Name
Because the name defines both what she IS and what she DOES, the official name is “Tha Street Stringa”. However, in print it may be referred to as just “Street Stringa” or used in a sentence as “…Tha Street Stringa”.
The name is derived from the fact that she plays a stringed instrument, she raps (which is an art form birthed from “Tha Streets”), and that she strives to speak to issues facing women of the urban community (referred to collectively as “Tha Streets”). It also refers to the gritty nature of the issues women of all ages and socioeconomic levels face such as relationships, self image, sex and beauty.
As a fun, exciting, magnetic entertainer, Tha Street Stringa attracts fans in the same way tennis shoes hung from a telephone pole attract and direct addicts to the local drug house. Following with the “shoes on a wire” theme, the shoes on a wire alternately represent a remembrance of a lost loved one in the ‘hood. Tha Street Stringa uses this idea to communicate that we must remember the original spirit of hip-hop and its roots of empowerment, fun, partying, communication by the disenfranchised and improvisational artistry – rather than allowing its commercial exploitation to be limited to and degenerate into misogynistic, criminal, promiscuous and excessively consumerist messages that can result in the disempowerment of entire generations.
