1: A rocktronica band from Boston, formed in 2008.
2: A post-punk/gothic rock band from Austin, formed in 2023.
Hailing from Boston, The Grey Area has been bringing their unique brand of 'Rocktronica' to venues around the Northeast since 2008.
Having shared the stage with such regional, national and international acts as The Breakfast, Telepath, Orchard Lounge, Ott, 2020 Soundsystem, The Indobox, Dopapod, and many more, The Grey Area is undoubtedly one of the most exciting acts emerging from the Boston music scene. Intertwining improvised, genre-blending instrumental excursions with a multitude of well-crafted original songs, as well as unique covers ranging from The Beastie Boys, Talking Heads, and Herbie Hancock to more modern bands like LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, The New Deal, and so many more.
The Grey Area sound is created by integrating influences from almost everything musical and delivering enthused and inspired performances that fuse traditional instrumentation with electronic sound production. Some of this is achieved with an array of analog and digital effects, as well as sampled sounds, sequences, and good old-fashioned synthesizers.
Seeing The Grey Area in concert will show you exactly what people are buzzing about – energetic, inspired and danceable music that gets everyone in the room moving. Don't miss a chance to see one of the most exciting bands in the Boston area!
NOTE: There are two The Grey Areas!
"508" and the song "Sugar From You" are from D.C.'s two-man indie rock duo.
