The group consists of four members; Nate Mott, lead vocals and guitar, Matt Rutler, guitar, Hoyt Hottel, drums and Evan Van Gorder, bass guitar. The Band is most commonly compared to the likes of Donavan Frankenreiter, Jason Mraz, and Sublime. Although, they clearly have their own progressive style always evolving for the current market.
Nate Mott met the rest of the group one by one coincidentally all while
performing in the same hometown venue. Nate was playing solo when he met Matt
Rutler, Nate and Matt were playing together when they met Hoyt Hottel and finally,
Nate, Matt and Hoyt were on stage together when Evan Van Gorder introduced himself. This was all within two weeks. Nate alone had been actively promoting his second solo album “Words Distilled” when he met the players of his current group. It was clear from the beginning that this foursome would prove to be an unstoppable force, coming out with their first group album in less than a year and gaining a dedicated following faster than they could have ever hoped for.
The Nate Mott band has been featured on National Public Radio’s Weekend Edition with host Liane Hansen, performed for the “Light Foundation” (a televised charity event run by Matt Light of the New England Patriots), played at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence Rhode Island for the Rock the Ink Concert, opened up or Keith Kane of Vertical Horizon at Harpers Ferry in Boston, Massachusetts, shared the stage with Jada of Motown Records, featured as Band of the Month on Pixy 103 radio station, played for the cast party of the major motion picture “The
Proposal” at the Felt Club in Boston, Massachusetts, and opened up for the Patriots vs. Steelers game that was on November 30th 2008, to approximately 50,000 people! Their current album “Like We Mean It,” has sales in the thousands and an impressive numbers of downloads via iTunes and other online music stores in only six months of selling. The group is already in the studio getting a jump start on their next album. The new album will show a clearly refined sound for the group and will have lively songs that are fully of depth and complexity.
The Nate Mott Band has done all of this independently and continues to promote harder than ever. The sky is the limit for this talented and motivated group. For more information please visit their website www.natemottband.com or myspace page myspace.com/natemottmusic.
